MASK I, Raku-fired stoneware, 2026, 6 x 6 x 3 in
MASK I was inspired by the Phantom of the Opera, more specifically, my memory of it. I've always loved the musical, and in 2023, I finally got to see it in New York City. I wanted to create a constant reminder of one of my favorite memories. This ceramic mask was hand-built with stoneware and raku-fired, allowing subtle colors to appear.
