BAD BUNNY, Sketch paper & graphite, 2026, 11 x 14 in
In order to create this piece, I had to use blending stumps and multiple kinds of graphite pencils. For the darkest parts of the portrait, I used an 8B, and for the lightest, I used a 2H pencil. These allowed me to create a realistic portrait drawing of the music artist, Bad Bunny.
PORTRAIT STUDY I, Sketch paper & graphite, 2026, 11 x 14 in
PORTRAIT STUDY I was a quick study of a random person. This study allowed me to work on sketching quickly and accurately. I also only allowed myself two pencils, 2H and 6B.
STRANGER THINGS: ELEVEN, Mix-media paper & graphite, 2025, 9 x 12 in
While watching the popular TV show Stranger Things, I sketched one of the main characters, whose name is Eleven. I allowed myself 30 minutes to draw and shade. This was a quick study to gauge how fast I can render a person.
DRAPERY, Bristol paper, charcoal & graphite, 2024, 19 x 24 in
I wanted to challenge myself to capture the essence of fabrics through drawing. DRAPERY includes many types of fabric pieces, such as checkered or striped. This gave me experience in drawing different fabric textures. Using graphite and charcoal, I studied and thoroughly rendered each piece of cloth.
CONTOUR LINE STILL-LIFE, Bristol paper & graphite, 2024, 19 x 24 in
CONTOUR LINE STILL-LIFE was created by line weight and contour lines. By using these, I was able to capture the shadows and highlights of each object. This piece also gave me experience in drawing different textures (chicken wire, fabric, etc.) with lines.
BURNET WOODS, Bristol paper & charcoal pencil, 2024, 19 x 24 in
Sitting in the woods by my university, I drew the beautiful scenery surrounding me using a charcoal pencil. I used mostly contour lines with some shading for the leaves to show the movement of the wind. BURNET WOODS allowed me to focus on nature and its details.
